Amazing Laikipia Camp: Safari Dreams Under African Skies
We are excited to introduce the newest product in the Amazing Kenya Camps range, the Amazing Laikipia Camp.
This small and intimate luxury camp opened in early 2026 and is situated in the heart of Laikipia. Surrounded by well-established private conservancies and part of over a million acres of private land set aside for wildlife, this area offers true wilderness experiences, away from the crowds and where tourism still has a positive effect on conservation and wildlife.
The Camp
Amazing Laikipia Camp follows the same concept as our previous camp, the Amazing Mara Camp. 6 luxurious safari tents on raised platforms and nestled in an indigenous forest overlooking a permanent waterhole that provides a life source of water to a diverse population of wildlife. With lessons learnt and heeding the feedback of our amazing guests, we are adding a few small touches to the camp to elevate it to the next level, including a heated swimming pool!
The team
Headed by Geoff and Suzanne, and now with young daughter Tala coming along for the ride, you can expect the same friendly smiles as before, as our core team follows us to this exciting new venture. We couldn’t do this without them!
The Area
Laikipia offers the most dramatic landscapes imaginable. From open arid savannas to towering yellow fever acacia forests, from grasslands to hidden valleys and rocky outcrops and from seasonal waterholes to year-round flowing rivers… add in viewing of Mount Kenya in the near distance, and this area is a photographer’s paradise!
The Wildlife
The wilderness area where we will be situated has never had a significant tourism operation, and so we are proud to be the tourism pioneers on the property. The ranch is surrounded by some of the most high-profile conservancies in the area – Sosian, Suyian, Mugie, Loisaba, Laikipia Wilderness (yep, home of Giza the famous black leopard…) – these are all our neighbours. As a result, the wildlife is already amazing. A plethora of leopards, three resident prides of lions, a substantial cheetah population, a defined painted wolf denning site, as well as the less frequently seen predators such as caracal, serval, aardwolf and striped hyena!
The area is also within the ranges for the unique northern species, and so we have regular sightings of Grevys Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Lesser and Greater Kudu, as well as large herds of the gorgeous Reticulated Giraffe.
Activities
Moving back into a private wilderness area will allow us to do what we do best – make every day amazing. From game drives and night drives to bush walks, fishing in the dams, and meals out in the bush, al fresco and under the stars, every excursion will be amazing! And we are adding in fly camping and camel riding to
make the experience even more exciting!
Black Leopard
We appreciate that half the planet wants to see Giza the black leopard.
Some of the time, she is on a conservancy we have access to, but sometimes she is on a private conservancy that does not allow external visitors. It is hard to predict her movements, but yes, we can offer specific trips to look for her (sightings not guaranteed!), but only when we have news that she is on the “accessible”
conservancy
