Salsify wins World Culinary award

Salsify at the Roundhouse has been named as “Africa’s Best Landmark Restaurant 2023” at the coveted World Culinary Awards™.

With sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and the majestic Lion’s Head as a backdrop, Salsify serves up modern cooking, inspired by nature and driven by the seasons.

“We’re incredibly proud of this global recognition,” says Ryan Cole, co-owner and Executive Chef of Salsify. “Our location is truly unique – between land and sea, and our team is always striving to evolve our menu and push the boundaries of creativity and technique.”

Salsify occupies the upper level at the historically significant building, The Roundhouse. It dates to 1786 when it served first as a guardhouse then as a hunting lodge for Sir Lord Charles Somerset, Cape Governor from 1814 until 1826. Within the richly storied walls of this national monument, an opulent culinary journey that is accented by daring décor and whispers of history – a meal at Salsify is unlike any other.

The World Culinary Awards™ is a global initiative to recognise and reward excellence in the culinary industry. The winners of its 2023 programme were announced last night at the dinner reception hosted at Atlantis The Royal, Dubai, UAE.

Rina van Staden, Director, World Culinary Awards, said: “Our World Culinary Awards 2023 winners represent stellar examples of excellence in the culinary industry, and I congratulate each and every one for helping to raise the collective benchmark to even greater heights. My congratulations to each of them.”

Salsify is open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, and Sunday for lunch. Bookings essential.
