Konkamoya – is a place full of the wonders of nature

Konkamoya was created in 2010 after Andrea discovered this corner of paradise, tucked away in the largest of Zambia’s protected areas, Kafue National Park. Offering the traveller exclusive spectacles of unspoilt nature and the African wilderness in all its glory, coupled with luxurious and intimate hospitality, Konkamoya is the only international lodge on the Itezhi-Tezhi lake.

Overlooking the Lake, Konkamoya is surrounded by open plains, stunning bush-scapes and infinite horizons to explore, and your adventures within these will bring you in close proximity to many of Africa’s best loved creatures; herds of elephant wandering en-masse, the shy, elusive leopard stalking its prey, or a pride of lion passing down secrets of the hunt to the next generation – whatever the day brings will be unique and extraordinary.

Small and exclusive with only four luxury safari tents sleeping a maximum of 8 guests (a Family Tent can be arranged by prior arrangement, bringing the maximum number of Guests in camp to 10.). All wholly rebuilt to Andrea’s very exacting specifications in 2019, Konkamoya guarantees a very intimate, unrivalled connection with the vast wilderness around it.

Our Tents

Each of our four brand new luxury tents offers you an abundance of space in which to stretch out and unwind. In the centre of this 67sqm tent is your king-size bed, made up with linen of the finest Egyptian cotton, a sanctuary from which you can marvel at the incandescent colours of the sunrise or idly watch the playful afternoon frolics of the impala and puku, utterly unaware of your presence.

Entirely screened from the smaller creatures of the African bush, your tent also has 360o privacy screens that can be opened or closed to suit you – giving you the precise panoramic view that fits your mood. Even our indoor showers are designed to capture these views and give you the sense of being at one with nature.

The comfortable living area within the tent is designed so that you can enjoy moments of quiet between your activities, catch up with some reading, or just sit back and reflect on your adventure so far.

Each tent also has an intimate verandah on which to enjoy your morning coffee or tea while your senses awaken to the day ahead.

The Lapa

The Lapa is a key element of your safari experience at Konkamoya. Fashioned to fit perfectly within the natural elements surrounding it, this renovated modern space is where our chefs will serve your meals, and our bartenders will create all manner of drinks to satiate your thirst. The elevated dining, bar and lounge areas are airy and light, well-appointed with furniture created by Andrea and his Team from sustainable wood sources and using local craftspeople, capturing views over the plains down to the lake.

The infinity pool with its sundeck offers a space to cool down, catch the rays, and quietly observe the surroundings, and our raised fire-pit is ideal for enjoying an after-dinner drink while sharing stories of the activities of your day and preparing for the next.

The Cuisine

Our food at Konkamoya blends local and international flavours and uses the very best seasonal ingredients. Our kitchen, recently completely rebuilt, with large preparation areas for delicious focaccia, fresh pasta and bbread and of course decadent desserts, is, like any Italian home, an epicentre.

From here our chefs and kitchen team will delight your sense of taste with all manner of great meals and snacks – taking into consideration any specific dietary requirements you might have. You can definitely count on an Italian influence to the culinary experience at Konkamoya, which now, following the building of our wood burning oven, might even include traditional thin crust pizza.
