From humble beginnings as an outreach project to employ and empower women in the Lowveld in 2002, Ruggedwear® has grown to become a leading South African manufacturer of bush wear, safari gear and outdoor wear, supplying premier lodges and retail outlets throughout Southern Africa.

Driven by a commitment to ONLY manufacture our range in South Africa, the brand has contributed towards creating about 600 employment opportunities to South Africans in our factories and at our head office and warehousing facility in Nelspruit.

The range has expanded substantially and now includes a comprehensive uniform solution for all businesses. Recently a high-quality range of hospitality towels has also been included in the range and is well received by the country’s top safari lodges and other hospitality institutions.

Our people are our business and pride themselves on their exceptional levels of service and attention to detail.

Ruggedwear® is extremely proud to be the retail partner of FGASA and was able to give a little back to the industry last year as one of the main sponsors of the Safari Guide of the Year 2021. The sponsorship of this prestigious event will continue in 2022 and we look forward to a long relationship with these custodians of our heritage. We used this event in 2021 to launch our new men’s range and the exciting new ladies’ range in collaboration with Tayla McCurdy. Finally, a range of sophisticated safari gear for women. One of a kind.
