The Bungalow – An exceptional seaside bungalow in Pletttenburg Bay
The Bungalow Plett, designed for the ultimate experience in beachside living, is a 5-star luxury, yet laid-back boutique accommodation located right at Hobie Beach, one of Plettenberg Bay’s favourite playgrounds, making it the ideal accommodation option for ocean lovers and adventure seekers alike.
The Bungalow Plett is one of the Cape Summer Villas Boutique Collection’s exclusive accommodation properties along the Western Cape coast to Plettenberg Bay. The properties – there are eight in total, are well positioned within close proximity to popular tourist hotspots and offer luxury amenities and cater to the discerning guest.
The Bungalow’s sophisticated accommodation comprises seven, luxuriously furnished sea or cliff-facing rooms, with en-suite bathrooms. I stayed in one of the sea facing rooms, the Wedge. It features a queen bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and sliding doors that open to a private patio and a spectacular view of Hobie Beach. The room is so close to the beach that I was able to enjoy the most peaceful night’s rest with the soothing sound of the waves breaking on the beach. There are also self-catering options that are great for families – The Spot, with an upstairs loft bedroom for parents and four perfect-for-kids sleeping pods downstairs, is a fun place for families and the all-new self-catering Bungalow Beach Villa with three apartments – The Cove/honeymoon suite, the Beach Apartment and the fully self-catering Bay Apartment. All of course are equipped with all the usual first class amenities.
The Bungalow’s location – a stone’s throw from the water’s edge at Hobie Beach, makes it the ultimate beach ‘spot ‘ so naturally, the very first thing we did on arrival was to change into our swimwear and dash straight to the beach for a swim. Later we took a walk along the beach and discovered a quiet hideaway were we enjoyed the view of the warm Indian Ocean complementing the natural beauty of the beach.
After our afternoon at the beach we headed up to the Bungalow’s upper deck which overlooks the entire bay to try out the à la carte menu offerings at its vibey, open style restaurant. Featuring a variety of food from beer battered fish to thin-crust pizzas, sushi and more, I settled on the prawns and chips – a most mouth-wateringly delicious meal I must say. We then headed over to the trendy rooftop cocktail bar to enjoy some sundowners. The bar offers an extensive range of cocktails and drinks that are perfect for sundowners after work, or a relaxed get together with family and friends.
The restaurant’s sea-facing upper and lower viewing decks are perfect for basking in the summer sun. The next morning we enjoyed breakfast at the downstairs sea-facing deck which shares the spotlight with a plunge pool and is shaded by beautiful indigenous Milkwood trees.
Other features of the Bungalow include two tranquil, isolated areas for guests only with a cosy fire place – sea facing and cliff side, which is perfect for intimate gatherings and entertaining. There are several other leisure areas – viewing decks, hammocks and hanging chairs, where guests can enjoy a catnap or a good book.
The entertainment at the Bungalow is like no other. On Friday nights they have a DJ on the deck, setting the mood for a fun relaxing evening at the Bungalow. Which is exactly what we had even though it started to drizzle… the fun continued as staff turned up the heat by starting a bonfire.
The Bungalow has so much to offer, you really more than a few days to explore this beautiful accommodation. From its stylish look and feel, to the plunge pool, to the cosy fire boma area on the rock cliff-face side, and all the aquatic activities -boating, surfing, whale watching and swimming with seals The Bungalow will surely satisfy your desire for adventure and beach-living. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Bungalow – it really felt like it was my very own seaside bungalow. I was not at all keen to leave.
