The desire to experience one of South Africa’s finest private game reserves can often give you the logistical challenge of how to get there. Whilst these challenges have improved, often long waits and lengthy road transfers are involved which can detract from the overall experience.

Luckily, Federal Airlines or Fedair as everyone knows them, have been providing a solution since the late 1990’s to provide high quality air shuttles linking OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to the Private Game Reserves of the Sabi Sand, Manyeleti, Timbavati, Thornybush, Garonga and the private concessions within the Kruger National Park. Daily Shuttles are also available to the well-known Malaria-free Madikwe Nature Reserve on the Botswana border in the North West Province, South Africa.

The Fedair approach is to provide safe services directly to the airstrip of your desired lodge, this gives you the chance to connect easily from Johannesburg to your game drive in one seamless step.

If you are connecting from a domestic flight, passengers can be met in Arrivals and taken by our team to our private terminal, this is a short 10 minute minibus ride around the airport. Alternatively, for our Gauteng resident passengers we have ample safe free parking at our facility.

On arrival, guests will be able to relax in our safari lodge styled facility, freshen up with a shower, do any repacking, if required and store any surplus luggage. They can also enjoy free refreshments and wifi connection to share their experiences with loved ones far away.

To Madikwe, Fedair operates the 12 Seater Cessna Grand Caravan. This aircraft offers a great view of Johannesburg, Hartbeespoort Dam, the Magaliesburg Hills, Pilanesberg and Sun City enroute. The flight is one hour long.
On arrival you will be met by your chosen game lodge ranger and whisked away on your game drive and your safari adventure.

The return flights at the end of your safari offer the same experience in reverse and greatly smooth out the travel stresses, at the end of your trip, on your way home or to your next destination.

Fedair also offer shuttles from Nelspruit’s Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport to the eastern Private Game Reserves as mentioned above.

All activities have been adapted to be fully compliant with regard to the prevention and spread of COVID-19 .

For South African residents, Fedair has launched an SADC resident rate structure. These Rates are available on all flights from now until the end of 2022.
