Fancourt Estate’s The Links private club – South Africa’s number one golf course
My future hubby and I had the privilege to spend a few days at Fancourt in the Western Cape, South Africa recently and the experience was unforgettable.
We arrived early one morning and were welcomed by the friendly and very helpful staff. We were then served a generous and very enjoyable breakfast (and champagne – because why NOT celebrate life…). The options on the buffet table were endless, so we had to try a little bit of everything, and it was all just so delicious.
Our room was stunning and spacious with beautiful trimmings and curtains so dense you would not know the sun is up (perfect for a bit of a sleep-in). The view is simply stunning, and a fireplace creates the perfect atmosphere. Oh! And the bed! The bed was so big, we were both stretched out like starfish and our fingers did not even touch, like seriously big.
We had loads of fun, just like two small kids, riding around the picturesque Fancourt on vintage bicycles. There are different bicycle trails to choose from, each taking you through a different part of the beautiful scenery. It was simply beautiful and there were hundreds of different shades of green around us.
Later that day there was a proper holiday vibe around the pool while we were sipping on cocktails and soaking up the sun. Pure bliss.
I am still not done. I promise you, the list of pleasures is almost endless.
Early the next morning, I went for a golf lesson and felt very proud to actually hit the ball. I am no golfer, but really learnt a lot, so I obviously then had to go and apply all my newly acquired skills. We played a few holes in golfer’s paradise (I believe that is the correct terminology in golf). My fiancé is a player of the game of golf himself and in his own words, the facilities were world-class standard with velvet-like greens.
We enjoyed the ultimate relaxation treatment with a full body massage for two at the beautiful and luxurious spa (definitely also world-class). A definite must for anyone who ever visits.
We really had the best time – the food was amazing, the service was excellent, the staff were always friendly, the activities and golf were super fun, the treatments, oh so relaxing and we returned home with a few souvenirs.
The overall experience comes highly recommended.
