Christie Brown ready-to-wear pieces and accessories inspired by African culture

Christie Brown was founded in March 2008 with the launch of the brand’s first runway show in Accra, Ghana. Founder, Aisha Ayensu began her love affair with fashion at an early age. However, the real motivation came from watching her grandmother, Christie Brown (after whom the label is named), who was a seamstress, create rich and vibrant garments. As a little girl, she revelled in playing with shreds of African material and designed mini collections for her favourite dolls. Today, Christie Brown stands uniquely as a women’s apparel and accessories manufacturer and retailer, with pieces ranging from beautiful bespoke gowns to practical yet statement ready-to-wear pieces and innovative accessories primarily inspired by African culture and art. The clothes and accessories have made a bold statement, painting runways with a fusion of colour and culture, fit for the contemporary African woman.

Today, Christie Brown is built on a foundation that has helped develop a business that goes beyond just creating clothing and accessories. Beyond the awards and international recognition, Christie Brown is now a proudly reputable fashion brand that is a go-to for women looking for sophisticated yet wearable fashion pieces mostly inspired by African heritage.

We do not sell clothes, we sell experiences that are associated with clothing and accessories. These are a marriage of bold colours, textures and designs which leave each woman feeling confident. We believe that our clothing is designed to complement the amazing personalities of African women. Our main point of differentiation: finding creative ways to tap into each woman’s innermost desires and emotions, and satisfying them through our innovative products, services and entire brand vision.
